Being alone all the time.
A few friends made some interesting observations about my social potential overseas.
Chances are, I’ll make friends real fast — and most of them on the job. Chances are, they’ll be 85% male. Chances are, these friendships won’t last, either because I’ll date them, or because I won’t.
It has to be said that this panel of friends are equally split between the genders (although none of them had undergone transsexual operations, so maybe I need to work on that market next), 100% of them have known me for over a year, and 30% of the male participants have been completely platonic with me throughout our acquaintance.
And hellooo??? I could always smuggle Jenny and Hayden along. Hong Kong (for example) adds ’points’ to your PR application for every completed degree, year of full-time employment, and child under the age of 18 under your belt. Plus when I was in Hong Kong I hardly met anyone who wasn’t a financial advisor. In HK, Jenny is gold. In HK, Jenny would SO belong. In fact, she would belong a lot better than I would.
They don’t speak Hakka there, but that is beside the point.
While we’re at it, I might as well bring s2k along too. Instead of being dispersed to the far corners of KL-PJ-BU, we could all just be squeezed into the Hong Kong CBD and be like a 5-minute train journey away from each other at ANY given time. Post-work meetups to spa/watch a movie/wine and dine would be tres convenient. Goodbye rude and smelly Malaysian train passengers, hello unobtrusive mind-your-own-business MTR passengers. Goodbye stupid, stupid Klang Valley jams, hello Octopus card. Goodbye ‘it will take me 2.5 hours to reach you so why don’t you start working on your presentation now while I leave the office’, hello ‘I’m like two minutes away bitch STOP WORKING NOW.’
Bliss.
I can’t go alone — you guys HAVE to come along. You may officially take this as ADVANCE NOTICE.

Would a big sister be welcome, or would she just cramp your style?

Ai: First off, the apartments in HK are probably smaller than the ones in Tokyo, but here are a few people I DO NOT recommend being roommates with: Relatives (no personal space), singletons over the age of 32 (very particular lifestyle), most members of the male gender (disgusting), Models (crazy lifestyle), co-workers.
Living in the same BUILDING, however…
Linky: Maybe in a couple years…

the male gender disgusting? i’m sorry, but i have seen a house fully inhabited by women only, and it is a real mess.
